In Windows XP, I didn't like how I couldn't customize much via its installation. Older Windows did have that options like not installing its games, some programs, etc.
Will Vista be more flexible in its custom installation? Will Windows Vista have custom installation?
Nah - the setup that you see now will be more or less how it is in the final version. Don't forget, the first bit of setup (where you have to wait for ages) has little options - the bit when Windows finishes the loading of files (the long bit) you can customise it a little bit more :o)

Windows XP didn't have the option to customize the install a degree such as choosing Games or additional Windows Components. That was available in Windows 95, 98 and NT 4 I remember. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Phillip,
Vista's installation philosophy is simple: install everything (based on the product SKU), then allow customization on-the-fly from within the environment.
For businesses, that means customizing a build first, then locking down that build's options based on Group Policy settings (GPO).
Of course, different SKU's have different bundles of choices altogether (so some SKUs are inherently limited in installable toys/bells-and-whistles).
